Don't let the internet tell you who you should be

Matcha girlie, Pilates girlie, Sunscreen girlie, Niacinamide girlie!
I am not really sure with what tone should I address this, should I be annoyed or should I calmly explain you what's really happening!
Okay, ig you feel the rage
I mean, do we realise that everyone on the internet basically has the same personality?
We are watching the same content, following the same trends, having the same opinions as everyone else.
Where's the authenticity? Where's the audacity to be yourself? And when did we become so afraid of expressing who we really are?
Sure internet is a ruthless place, but isn't it a reflection of the humans we already were?
The only difference is that it's all just more visible now. I see no reason why you should be influenced by something that's not really you no matter how big it is.
When was the last time you had an independent thought? When was the last time you did something without thinking whether it's trendy, or whether it's going to get you more likes, or whether it's gonna make you look cooler. Does everything that we do is for some sort of performance?
Everything feels so shallow. Like how can Matcha be your whole personality? I don't get it!
I personally despise social media, not for it's ability to share content or share opinions, but for simply controlling our thoughts. For telling us that only a certain amount of people will get famous bcz they are making reels on trendy music or following a certain trend.
And the rest of you? You consume what the algorithm serves you so that the platform can also turn you into income generating bots, so that they can run their business and earn crores at the cost of your independent thinking and authenticity.
And it's really sad that some of us will never realise this. Some of us will make a career out of it and will be happy without even realising that it was all part of the plan, to give away our personality for something which is so lightweight that it can fade away at any moment.
So what should we do? "Social Media is THE thing rn, if we are not a part of it we will be forgotten, we will be left behind!"
Is it so? Is it so that your personality and your sense of self is so fragile that you'll be forgotten if only someone doesn't like your post?
I get it, validation is important, being seen is important, building an impact is important, having a purpose is important. You should work towards all of that, you should really build something that lasts longer than you do, but never at the cost of your authenticity.
Because how can you ever build something which is yours if you lose yourself in the process? If in the end you lose what was much more valuable than what you built?
That's all for this time!

SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!!!!
It is so so important for us to actually acknowledge the internet pit we are currently in, so, thank you for sharing this.

I totally agree with this! So many times, when I keep my phone at night and let my mind wander, it strikes me: our entire time is spent pleasing algorithms, instead of letting our minds wander into different places and explore our potential, we limit it by consuming baseless content.
